About Hospice Waterloo Region And Our Work In The Community
Hospice Waterloo Region was founded in 1993 by Lucille Mitchell, a local resident who recognized the need for hospice palliative care services in the Waterloo Region. Hospice’s core program is our Volunteer Visiting Program. Individuals living with life-threatening illness are matched one on one with a highly trained hospice volunteer who commits to making weekly visits to the client’s home to provide emotional and practical support.
Over the past 28 years that we have served the community, we have been able to expand the scope of our services substantially and now provide hospice palliative care and bereavement support to individuals and their families who are affected by a life-threatening illness.
Our mandate from the very beginning has been to provide ALL of our services free of charge to the community.
