When Anita’s husband, Bob, received a palliative diagnosis this past spring, they knew their time together would be precious and shortened.

Looking back, she recalls that when the time came to go to the Cook Family Residence, it was a gift to them both. She no longer had to worry about managing his care at home. Instead, she and Bob spent each day just being together, sharing memories and seeing close family and friends who came to visit. The hospice care team became like family, and volunteers were always nearby for consolation and comfort.

Hospice Waterloo Region’s “Lights of Love” is a wonderful way to become part of our compassionate community by helping to support family, friends, and neighbours at this critical time in a life journey.
